Twisted But True by Darren Burch is about a combination of stories and events that happened during the author Darren Burch’s career as a police officer, over a period of approximately 30 years. Unable to save a girl from a car crash one evening when he was a young man, Darren was changed forever in this life-altering event. An obsession to save lives was born in him that fatal night. And for the rest of his life, a lingering wonder and pain remained, thinking if he could have done something differently which would have generated a better outcome.

What I like in this book is that every story in this book is true just like the name states. It is a fun, quirky and also sometimes deep book. I liked reading about all his crime and work adventures. Darren Burch lived a very interesting life, and I loved every minute of reading about it. I liked how every chapter was a different story. I also liked how every story had its conclusion at the end. There were no cliff-hangers. The one story (spoiler) where he had an encounter with a tenant who killed his roommate and forgot about it and then the decomposing body dripped down onto someone downstairs was so funny in the way he wrote it.

There was not anything I did not like in this book. It was fun and easy to read and easy to understand. The stories were sometimes very gory but it was what made the book unique and different. The book was very detailed. I liked that there were not a lot of errors in the book.

I give Twisted But True a 4 out of 4 stars because it was well written and it was a great crime story book. There were some grammatical and typographical errors in this book but they did not affect the reading or rating of the book. It is also a biographical novel. This book made me see a cop and his job through a different view point and made me understand more about what their daily lives are like. It also makes it clear that some things we experience in life will stay with us forever.

I recommend this book to adults who enjoy a good page-turner and fun crime related stories for adult’s eyes only. This book contains explicit language, detailed homicide scenes, and sex crime investigations. Thus this makes this book not suitable for all ages or sensitive persons. Persons sensitive to blood and gore should not read this book.

I never would've expected this kind of stories to be funny, but I'm all for it. I love true crime stories and witty humor, so I'll be adding this one to my to-read shelf. Thank you!
