Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook is the practical gist of a book by the same title. All fifteen chapters of the book follow a structure that allows the reader to acquire the maximum benefit with the smallest effort possible. The book covers topics related to the workplace from a Christian outlook. It offers tips to prepare for meetings, deliver remarkable presentations, protect personal values, balance family life with career life, and others. Faith is also a central subject that makes an appearance in every chapter.

I liked the book's arrangement the most. The content was very organized. A chapter in this book would normally start with a verse from the bible, followed by the main text, then some key points that act as a summary, action steps, caution remarks, and a prayer related to the chapter's topic. This structure not only makes it easy to navigate, but also serves as a means for the readers to pick the parts they want to revisit in the future. For example, you can come back only for the prayers, the caution remarks, or the action steps. I also liked how the author explained the difference between a strategy and a tactic. He made it clear that a tactic is a solid, applicable step. The difference between the two isn't about long term versus short term as commonly misunderstood.

This is not exactly a dislike, but I felt that some pieces of advice are too prototypical. In other words, I think if all employees did all the tips included in the book, there'll be no individuality. Also, I find some areas where guidance was given, like those associated with superiors' satisfaction or how they'll regard an employee's behavior, to be subjective. Each person has their own beliefs and convictions that will determine how they'll act in those situations. It shouldn't be a rule of thumb. But that's just my opinion.

I give Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook by Fred Sievert 3 out of 4 stars. The concise and direct quality of the book is its strong suit. There were no lengthy ramblings. The text was clear, professionally edited, and easy to follow. I didn't find any mistakes. I deducted the fourth star based on the points mentioned earlier.

If you are a Christian who is trying to improve your workspace skills, start a new career, or take part in a business project, this book is tailored for you. However, it is necessary to point out that non-Christians can still benefit to large extents from this book. As long as a self-help book on career improvement is what you're looking for, this is an adequately useful resource.

What a great review! However, I don't think that if everyone follows same principles then it will lead to loss of someone's individuality because this book is focusing on helping people realise their true spiritual gifts and choosing a career they know they can perform their best in. This would create a healthy competition environment and create space for new and different ideas!
