Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition)
When I first heard of idioms, I wondered why they were so important. It turned out that their importance lies in the fact that using them makes you sound classy and well-read. I never knew this until I used them and observed people's reactions to my usage of them. It is funny, I admit. But this is a powerful thing to learn and use. I believe that Peter Liptak appreciated their importance. This is why he wrote about them in English and translated them into more than four languages. This book contains the German translation. It is a book with close to 300 North American idioms that the author collated. One of the features of the book is that each line of the sentence was translated into German. Exercises were given on every single idiom covered. Some chapters have crossword puzzles to build the brain's retention capacity too. It is a valuable authority on idiomatic expressions. It should be had and read by all.
I do not know if Peter Liptak had authored any other pieces of literature other than the Idiom Attack books. This would be the first time I have seen or read his work. The way he wrote this, Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition) shows me that he is both a good writer and a great teacher. I now know that it won't be stupid of me to go hunting for his books, if there are others, soon.
Some of the themes that this book focused on were travel and business. It also had themes that focused on vacations, business, conversations, interactions, and moments in time. Each of these themes was expressed in about ten idioms for each chapter. I learned much from the book because it took a novice approach to teach these idioms. This approach made it a simple book. And its simplicity helped ease the tension that comes with mastering a new language.
The simplicity of the book, its language, and its exercises are what I liked the most about it. Peter Liptak wrote a handout that simply tackles complex idioms. Some people may hate the fact that it's too simple, but I don't. This made learning free of unnecessary stress.
I did not dislike any idiom, chapter, or feature in the book. It was simple and enjoyable. The stories that helped me remember the idioms were interesting. The whole book was good, and I liked everything in it.
It is time to rate this book, and I give it a big 4 out of 4 stars. The rationale for this is my love for it and its simplicity. I was excited to take note that it was exceptionally edited. It was a book that was completely free of errors. Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition) is a book about idioms. A translator translated it to German for people that speak that language. It will help foreigners who speak German to understand idioms. It will help them not be overwhelmed when their path crosses with one of the many idioms in this book.
