Chasing the rabbit written by Jerry A. Greenberg is a book about a man named Bob Granger in is mid fifties who has a wife called Elaine and two young adult children Sam and Emily. Bob has had a successful career as a salesman and now is forced to face the realities of retiring after a terrible incident. This forces him to question his life and his role in his marriage. Jerry A. Greenberg uses the wolf chasing the rabbit analogy to explain the psychology of retirement. The book is not as serious as it seems because it does have a bit of comedy, romance and tragedy.

The positive aspects of this book is that it is well written and it also keeps you interested in reading more. I appreciate that the author used humour to make the story a little light because retirement is such a serious topic. I liked that it raises the question about what people do when they retire and it causes people to think about their own personal retirement plans which is important.

However, the negative aspects are that it is not realistic. I find that the age 55 was too young to retire maybe 60 or 65 would’ve been better. The storyline didn’t flow well and there were too many contradictory scenes. If the author had written it longer and filled the blank spaces it would have flowed better. The characters well a bit too fictional for me as much as it is a fiction book it also needs to be relatable. The book also ends abruptly leaving you with questions about what actually happened in the end.

I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars because I didn’t like how the story flowed it went from one scene to a totally different scene in the next chapter. It is a well written book but I felt like the story lacked depth it doesn’t move any emotions. It also doesn’t allow you to imagine the characters because the characters are not built properly. I feel like the book should be longer just to fill in the gaps in the storyline but it is an interesting book to read. There weren’t any errors that I noticed and it looked like it was edited by a professional editor.

I would recommend this book to young adults starting off their career and also adults considering retirement. This book really emphasizes the importance of having a retirement plan and I think those who identify with their career will really enjoy this book.
