Adorno Y Sus Dos Fantasmas is a story written by Manelick de la Parra about a young literature student in Paris. The student, Mavelick, agrees to look after a cat at a house where his friend Maribel works as he had to travel unexpectedly to Barcelona due to his father’s illness. The house is owned by a couple that seems to be very important. The situation brings out a feeling of adventure and curiosity in the house.

The story is full of pleasure and delight to know more about life in literature. The flow of thoughts and reflection in one’s mind is full of desire for experience. Manelick de la Parra’s story has a touching narration that makes one want to read to the end. Mavelick came across some evidence about a conflict between a couple identified as “J” and “A” in which he discovered a few clues that he narrated for these two unknown people. Maribel left in a hurry and was unable to tell the owners about Mavelick being in the house. He fears they might report him as a thief or murder him thinking he broke into the house.

The writer has a way of describing things in an interesting way, making it ironic with a bit of horror taste. Although it has a little bit of humor to it. I liked the way he excitingly narrated the novel. It makes a reader become fond of the novel and read it more till the end. The continuity of references about authors and books he encountered during his stay in Adorno and his studies at the university give it the right feeling of being a narration of the life of a student.

The characters are flat, there isn’t much to say about the characters as some of them hardly exist. The characters were not well developed as the story was not long enough to allow us to connect or relate to them. The use of so many author references makes one feel bored or uninterested if he/she does not know them. It makes the pace of reading to be slowed down and distracting.

I rate the novel 3 out of 4 stars as the revelation at the end is quite incredible and was edited well.

I recommend the book to adults who love literature or university students who are enrolling in art or classical work literature.
