Review of Go Forth from Where You Are
Go Forth from Where You Are is a fictional autobiography written by Tova Herman. It’s a spiritual journey from a haunting past to a bright future. The story revolves around Tess, who highlights her challenges experienced in life and several relationships under the possession of Dybbuk. She admired her father, who was not around her the way she expected, and later, he died of cancer. Carrying this emptiness in her life, Tess got married and had two sons. Already living with childhood horrors, she soon encountered obstacles regarding parenting. Once her children reached the stage of independence, her life seemed to move towards the same road. Therefore, the past started to repeat itself, and Tess was engulfed by the feelings of abandonment again.
How does Tess fight her fears and transform her future? To explore the answer, readers need to read this inspiring and motivating autobiography. Readers will discover the spiritual tools that Tess used to unchain herself from the restraints of her past.
The first thing that I liked about this book includes the usage of Hebrew and Sanskrit words. Also, to make it convenient for the readers to understand those words, the dictionary is present at the end of the book. Additionally, the author has mentioned the meaning of Hebrew or Sanskrit words in a few chapters simultaneously. One of the best features of this book is that Tova Herman highlights the concerns that affect the physical and psychological health of parents. Lastly, one of the amusing features that readers will notice is; how the author included content related to several religions. I didn’t dislike any aspect of the book because it kept my focus and interest intact. But, at certain times, it was irritating for me to frequently turn the page from chapter to dictionary and vice versa. However, this is not something I disliked, and it can be passed over.
I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars since the author has professionally edited this book. I didn’t rate it 3 stars because the author has done phenomenal work in guiding the audience. Hence, writing an influential book.
I would recommend this book to those who love reading autobiographies. Also, this book is worth reading for parents who are facing challenges regarding parenthood and adulthood. It’s a book that will help readers in finding a ray of light within the darkness, including the freedom from the past. The book doesn’t consist of profanity, and it can be read by people belonging to any religion.
