Review of Can I Be Frank?
Rob Wyatt started Can I Be Frank with accident-prone Father Francis Rose's first day in America. At the Orlando International Airport, Father Francis, who prefers to go by the name Frank, encounters one mishap after another. Frank was picked up from the airport by Father William (Bill), the Vicar General of the Diocese of Central Florida. Bill introduced Frank to American beer on the first day, he then left a very hangover, Frank, in the capable hands of the Parish Administrator, Martha, for his first Mass. Frank sobered up when he saw Mrs. Charmois for the first reading. Mrs. Charmois was not shy in letting him know she was interested in him. Frank later met Mr. Charmois, he quickly concluded that the Charmois had a controlling influence over the church. Frank made it clear that the church need to get from under Chairmors's thumb, he quickly wondered if he made the right decision. With the help of Martha, along with Ginny, his medical doctor, and Karl, a judge, and used car dealer, both of which were not a part of the congregation, was able to get Franks's message across, and in the process, help a group of Mexican who was working for Mr. Charimor in despicable conditions.
Rob kept a smile on my face, from the beginning of the book to the very end, with the difference between his British English and the American English which surrounds him. I was also educated on some of the different Catholic masses and practices. He highlighted some of the injustice, issued out to the less fortunate of our society. Also, the influence the wealthy have over all walks of life. At the same time, I was not saddened by reading the book because of its comedic aspects of it.
Rob also shows Justice which can be achieved when influential persons work together for the common good of society who need someone to stand up for them. It is also great to have your beliefs, whatever you chose that belief to be. To Call upon divine intervention when needed.
There was nothing that I dislike about the book. The book was professionally edited as I have not noticed any grammatical or spelling errors. The terms and overall language used were clear and easy to understand. Therefore, I have no hesitation in giving this book a 4 out of 4 stars
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for some lighthearted humor. This book lacks profanity and sexual scenes. Although the book has a catholic setting, it is not trying to sway anyone to or away from Christianity. It can be read by any religious group. There is also a book two to look forward to.
