Review of Apotheosis Now
Apotheosis Now by Yanhao Huang is a book that teaches us about our true selves, our core, soul, or awareness, as the author calls it. It looks into the cause of suffering and our feeling of unhappiness. Throughout the book, Yanhao tells how we forget who we are while ego growing within us. He states that we get stuck in a racing game, aiming for success. Then we realize that the things we do on an everyday basis are not the ones we actually want to do. Yanhao states that we must give up our desire to control and understand how everything is connected. He says we should discover who we are to be happy.
Apotheosis Now is transformational work. The one who reads it would not be the same afterward. I appreciate the hard work the author put into it by combining different scientific and religious studies and his own view while making this book. It is also exceptionally well-edited and structured, so only the novelty of ideas may give the reader a hard time.
The other nice thing about the book is the number of quotes from different people. It makes you see issues from different perspectives.
However, sometimes the reader may find it hard to accept Yanhao's thoughts. I would not recommend reading this book for people who get too emotional over new ideas. The experience for such people can be like an emotional roller-coaster. I experienced everything from laughing to watching blankly at the wall, asking myself: "What the point in living?"
But if you are not scared by the previous statement, I will encourage you to muddle through the problematic paragraphs. The effort is worth the feeling of understanding which is sure to come when the author says his bit.
In the end, there is still a gap between what one says and what the other hears. Sometimes it is better to feel the direction of thought, the underlying meaning. But if you want to see how everything in the universe is connected, I believe nothing could stop you.
In the end, we all can come to the truth in millions of ways, and Apotheosis Now doesn't need to be your only choice on the way of enlightenment. But for me, it was a worthy experience, and I feel much better than before reading the book. I am no longer afraid of an existential crisis to come cause I know how to face it, and I see the beauty of each day. My view of the world changed and made me a much healthier and happier person.
I am grateful that I stumbled on this book and gladly give it 4 out of 4 stars since it made my life much more enjoyable, not to mention how brilliantly written it is.
I recommend it to all who seek enlightenment, change of perspective, or are just interested in religious and scientific theories of how the world and all in it works.
