Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition)
Over here in the UK, students are taught idioms in high school. They write tests on it to see if they have mastered it or not. From my research, I have noticed that most people in England have used these idioms at least once in their conversations. Sometimes, they do not even know that they are using it. Imagine the confusion that people who are not native English speakers will face when they walk into an English-speaking place and hear someone use an unfamiliar idiom. This confusion may cause them to be embarrassed or even angry. Peter Liptak wrote Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition) to protect these people from such horrible feelings. He added pictures to make the learning process not as hectic as it would have been without them. Understanding that writing these idioms and showing off pictures isn’t enough, he also provided tests and puzzles to train the brain. This book was also totally translated into German. This German part means that you do not have to understand English to learn idioms.
I will give an honest review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition). It was written by Peter Liptak. It belongs to the Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living series. As the name implies, this volume focuses on idioms that anybody can use every day and every hour. It has idioms about the weather, the times of the day, traveling, business, and about 21 other themes. The author left no loophole in the book because he thoroughly explained every idiom that he wrote. This is good. It makes him a good lecturer.
So what did I like most about the book? The answer to that question would be the translation. The author got a translator who expertly converted every English word and expression into German. It is not like those translations that do not capture the meaning of the sentences they are translating.
And what did I dislike about this book? The answer is nothing. I love it when I find nothing to dislike in a book. It means that I got value from everything in it. I did not regret singling out this book to read a few days ago. Nothing confused me, and it was a quick read for me. So I am glad to say that I liked everything in Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (German Edition).
If you are wondering whether or not this book was edited well, I want to let you know that it was edited perfectly. There were no typos. Every word was placed perfectly. I will never stop praising Peter Liptak for taking the time to write this book. And because I enjoyed everything about it and think it is excellent, I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to people that speak German and would love to know more about these idioms that English speakers always talk about.
