Myra's father was on the Seattle Express when word got out that it had caught fire. She didn't know that her father had escaped on a lifeboat, only to be washed ashore on a distant island. She also did not know his fears and the hopelessness he and his crew faced in their cold situation. Desperate to get her father back alive, she and a few friends form a plan whose sole goal is to rescue the one she loves. Only time will tell if she will successfully execute that plan. And all those who were caught in the storm that downed their father's ship would have to fight to stay alive and get what they wanted.

Charlie Sheldon is the author of this story or novel titled Adrift. One of the things that I like about it is that it is the sequel to Strong Heart. I loved that book so much, and I was glad to learn that it had a sequel. After reading it, I learned that this book is its polar opposite. I liked that too. This series does not stick to the cliche where every book in its sequel follows a particular plot.

After carefully thinking deeply about all that I saw and got from this book, I have concluded that I did not dislike anything in it. It showed me a scary reality. It also showed me one that is beautiful and full of love. It was also exceptionally edited. It is no wonder that I liked everything in it.

What I liked the most were the parts of the story that kept me on edge. There were a lot of scenes that showed me peaks of conflicts or events. For instance, the scene when the sea trashed and hit a tug boat that was on its way to the burning ship excited my senses. I was left wondering if that would be the time that the worst would happen or if the occupants of the boat would get out of that trashing alive. At least a dozen scenes kept me suspended in wonder throughout the story.

I said that I liked everything in the book. I, therefore, cannot give it anything less than an excellent rating because it deserves 4 out of 4 stars. It gave me entertainment and an epic storyline about the realities of some people. It covered some topics such as visions, love, survival, the sea, its behavior, and many more. It taught me much and became a novel that showed me several lessons, for which I am grateful.

Adrift entertained me and provided me with fodder for conversation. If you read this book, you will feel the emotions that I felt at certain parts of the book. It will show you adventures that are not of the cliched kind. It will make you think about life and things we are forced to do to survive. But I recommend you only read this if you like books about the ocean and the dark times that sailors face at sea.
