This book discusses one of the most important topics of today's world: marketing. Everything in life needs marketing. Whether you like it or not, you will need it at some point in your life. Ana Maria De la Guardia builds on an already established approach called inbound marketing. Fixing the disadvantages of inbound marketing and coming up with other ideas, she developed a modified approach. Action marketing is the name she gave for this approach. According to the author, action marketing is suitable for BtoB companies, BtoC companies, start-ups, and independent workers. She also suggests that action marketing is effective for any type of work that requires a person to take an action. This includes raising money for donations for NGOs, libraries, schools, and others.

I liked the clarity of the information the most. The author was straight to the point and concise. In these types of books, unnecessary noise and lengthy ramblings create a serious distraction. Luckily, this wasn't the case in Action Marketing . Although I'm not a business owner or someone concerned with sales, I still enjoyed the practical advice in this book. A lot of soft skills and interpersonal tactics were involved. This is because most of the marketing strategies were centered around the customer.

There's nothing that I particularly disliked about the book. However, there's one point that I think would have improved it. The author mentioned that she assumed the reader had some prior knowledge about the topic. Accordingly, she wrote the book based on that assumption. While I understand this may not be a hurdle to most readers, I still think some of the terms used could have been defined or explained briefly before using them. A short glossary of terms or succinct in-text definitions would have done the job.

I give Action Marketing by Ana Maria De la Guardia 3 out of 4 stars. If I hadn't find some errors in the text, I would have given this book four stars. The text was professionally written. The progression of the chapters was logical and eliminated any confusion.

I recommend this book to whoever is starting a new business or looking to increase their sales. If you are struggling with customers in any way, this should help too. The author clearly mentioned who could benefit from the strategy she developed. I did mention those in the first paragraph. The author tried this strategy herself, and the results were satisfactory. So, you're getting tips from an experienced, and successful, marketer. Give it a read!
