Dr. Ghoulem Berrah began this book with his story as a small child born in Algeria. He became a political ambassador who constantly yearns for liberty, equality, and peace. To liberate Algeria from French rule, he developed an interest in activism. Dr. Berrah was a medical student but still dreamed of an independent Algeria. When he first arrived at the university, he started his activities and never stopped. He was dedicated to making Africa—not just Algeria—better. His political activism was international in scope. He interacted and collaborated with famous people.

A Dream for Peace: An Ambassador's Memoir recounts Dr. Berrah's participation in diplomatic duties, highly secret presidential tasks, and conversations with ardent militants to resolve political differences amicably. The author is well-versed in current global political and religious affairs. The book covers various topics, including marriage, war, and religion. The author, a Muslim who married a Christian, worked as a diplomat and traveled the world, contributing to the construction of mosques and cathedrals as well as fostering peace in the Middle East and Africa. A Dream for Peace: An Ambassador's Memoir is a non-fiction book that also serves as a historical narrative of the author's experiences and accomplishments.

I liked some things about this book and the author. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's open-mindedness toward everyone, regardless of ethnicity or creed, is admirable. He was a Muslim, but he had no prejudice against Christians or other religions. He is a revolutionary and an advocate for education. We see this as he persisted in his studies despite the language barrier. He even went ahead to achieve a significant scientific innovation. I respect Dr. Berrah's struggle for a free Algeria. His detention and arrest did not deter him. I like that the author shared images in this book. It really made my reading experience more enjoyable.

I found only one negative aspect of this book: it is a long read. The book is so long that, at a point, I almost gave up on it. However, I read on because Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a man whose life is not boring. I wanted to catch up on all the activities he was involved in and see him win in all he did. I would have given up if it were a typical memoir with the conventional writing style. This book's writing style was detailed and descriptive. I am happy that I made it to the end of the book. This negative aspect will not affect my rating of this book because the book's length is something to be expected. A short book is unrealistic to capture everything about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's life. The author has met and worked with many people in his lifetime—people from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures. So, I don't expect him to leave those details out. Having clarified this, I gladly rate A Dream for Peace: An Ambassador Memoir by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah the 4 out of 4 stars it deserves.

Additionally, the book was professionally edited, as I encountered only three minor errors while reading it. Finally, in this book, I encountered many historical events and heroes. Hence, people who enjoy reading about historical events will enjoy this book. I will also recommend it to readers who enjoy reading biographies and autobiographies.

Not all heroes wear capes. Despite the lengthy nature of this book, I think Dr. Ghoulem is worth reading about. I love how detailed this memoir is. Nothing is better than living by example.

I think I will pass on this book. I do love to read about the life of Dr. Berrah and all his achievements. I would love to read about his involvement in different activist activities. But I don't think I can read it because of the length. I will pass it bu for now, while keeping an open mind for when I can be able to read it.

It was a lengthy book for real. I must say that I understand why the book was that lengthy though. I wouldn't expect anything less considering all the activities that Dr. Berrah was involved in. He really did have a busy life.
