When Randall is declared missing by the Russian government one year after a failed expedition, Taylor Grant immediately travels down to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to claim Randall's estate as his only surviving family member and heir. On arrival, Taylor begins to experience some uncanny incidents and quickly realizes that his uncle Randall was in for a much bigger gamble. Randall loved exploring the unknown. He was a man with a serious passion for adventure. A year ago, he went on an expedition to Zona with some other researchers and scientists, but the expedition ended badly. Now Taylor Grant must find out if his uncle is still alive by going on another expedition with a group of researchers and scientists. What lies beyond the borders of Zona? Is Randall really dead? Grab a copy of Zona: The Forbidden Land by Fred G. Baker to find out.

Zona is a mysterious place located in the farthest parts of Siberia. It was an unexplored land that was designated a restricted area by the Russian government because of the unusual animals in the area. From wild animals to unusual plants, everything about the place was quite unusual. As I read further, I wondered how easy it was for Taylor and the rest of the team to make up their minds to go to such a dangerous place.

Fred G. Baker did a very good job. He gave a vivid and detailed description of Zona. The book is a fantasy and sci-fi book with elements of suspense. The beginning of the book was full of suspense and mystery. The outcome of events put me on the edge of my seat. From the break-in and entry by an unknown man into Randall's house to all the classified information Taylor was privileged to see. I admire the author's writing skill. It was easy to understand and read. He developed the characters very well, and as the story progressed, the tension increased.

From the beginning, I loved Taylor and Irina's friendship. Even though he did not fully trust her, he still opened himself up for love. I was quite disappointed at the turn of events, however. I expected Taylor Grant to be more responsible, but he was so promiscuous with the women in the camp. Another thing I didn't like was how they all started drinking heavily. I could understand their dilemma, but in my opinion, I think that further slowed down the purpose of the journey.

Nevertheless, this did not lessen my overall enjoyment of this book. The story was unique and interesting, the author's style of writing was very engaging, and the suspense was a great element in the book. For these reasons, I will rate this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. It was exceptionally edited, with a few uses of profane words.

This book will be appreciated by readers who love fantasy books with a touch of mystery and suspense.
