Crazy Time: A Bizarre Battle with Darkness and the Divine by L. Andrew Cooper is a gripping and haunting tale that follows the life of Lily Henshaw, an office manager at a printing company, and her journey through a series of traumatic events. The book delves into themes of paranoia, death, survival and the search for truth amid a series of inexplicable and eerie occurrences in Lily's life.

After surviving a brutal attack that claims the lives of her three friends, Lily is left shaken to her core and haunted by paranoia. A vivid explanation of this incident left me horrified. The story takes a dark turn with her brother David's death, triggering memories of a suicide cluster and a disturbing rhyme involving three blind mice that she interprets as a reflection of her family.

Throughout the book, Lily's strength and resilience shine through as she navigates her struggles and unexpectedly finds solace in an unlikely romantic relationship with her boss, Burt. Together, they embark on a daring quest to unravel the mysteries behind the bewildering and bizarre happenings that surround them.

The narrative weaves biblical references into the plot, adding layers of complexity to the story. As they seek understanding, Lily and Burt encounter individuals who offer tantalizing hints, yet the truth remains elusive, leaving readers as perplexed as the protagonists.

The unfolding of strange and supernatural events further intensifies the intrigue, immersing readers in a surreal world where ghosts roam, and peculiar patterns of suicide emerge. Cooper's captivating storytelling grips readers' attention, leaving them questioning the thin line between hallucination and haunting reality.

The title, Crazy Time, aptly reflects the book's chaotic and unpredictable nature. However, I found the plot to be occasionally confusing and dull, with lengthy narration and monologues extending across several pages. For example, Burt monologued about the incident that happened in jail for more than 2 pages. Even though he was narrating the incident to Lily, it was completely one-sided; Lily didn't have any role in it. Additionally, the observations made in the book reflect the subjective viewpoint of the author. It's worth acknowledging that viewpoints on subjects like God can differ, potentially leading to conflicts for religious readers. It's also important to note that the book is not suitable for individuals dealing with depression or other mental health issues. Based on my assessment, I would assign it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.

In conclusion, Crazy Time: A Bizarre Battle with Darkness and the Divine is a thought-provoking and unsettling exploration of trauma, human psyche, and emotions. It is more suitable for those seeking dark and complex theme.

Your review aptly reflects on the positive as well as negative aspects of the book. The mystery sounds interesting, the characters seem realistic. I genuinely support your rating based on the points you mentioned in your review. Long monologues and strict religious perspectives can potentially discourage readers.

As dark as it sounds, this book also looks interesting. I really like how you have clearly stated what you disliked. Lily sounds like a well-written character. Thank you for sharing this review!
