This review is for Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress : A Practical Guide by Gustavo Kinrys, M.D. and Alexandra Gold, M.A.

This book is an excellent resource for readers who suffer from anxiety and stress. All of the remedies presented in the book are natural, that is they are easy to access in every day living, such as in our foods, in plants, in our brains, thoughts and physiques. The remedies and procedures on how to use or do them are thoroughly discussed in simple and easy to understand language. The authors do caution though, that these remedies may not be sufficient to replace, drugs already prescribed, and or follow-ups from doctors, psychiatrists, and psychologists. However it is also emphasized that studies show most people ignore their symptoms of anxiety and stress for at least ten years before seeking any help. By this time these people are suffering more extreme symptoms and their health and social life has declined greatly. In light of this kind of situation, this book could save the day. The readers could explore the vast array of natural remedies provided and use the ones appropriate for their needs.

The authors explain that in our modern society, people experience much more anxiety and stress than necessary. That is because our brains are still hardwired with the Fight or Flight response from primitive times when humans had to escape real life threatening dangers such as bears or fights with other people for scant resources. As is evident through panic attacks and phobias, we now over-react to daily stresses that are nowhere near as threatening as those in primitive times. Our self help has to be geared to reflecting upon what exactly stresses us, to give the stressor the appropriate amount of measured attention, and to calm ourselves down. This can be done by using the easily accessible natural remedies in our daily lives. The remedies presented in thorough and easy to understand language include: those that are nutrient based, breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, cognitive behaviour therapy, exercise, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, aroma therapy, music therapy, noise therapy, mindfulness, biofeedback, herbal based remedies, virtual reality therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and app based treatments.

The readers of Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress: A Practical Guide will find this book to be an enjoyable and hopeful read. As a result, they will be very likely to adopt one or several of these natural remedies to manage their anxiety and stress symptoms.

Although this book is well written, I noticed two blaring typos in large print which are difficult to ignore. This makes me wonder if the book was professionally edited. These errors take away some of the credibility of an otherwise well written book. I recommend that these typos be corrected . I give Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress: A Practical Guide by Gustavo Kinrys, M.D. and Alexandra Gold, M.A. 3 out of 4 stars.

Your review summarized the topics and aims of this book really well. This book seems to be a collection of a vast amount of different remedies, from which the reader can choose to explore further. I wonder what virtual reality therapy could involve. :eusa-think:

While I would probably be doubtful of some remedies' effectiveness, with such a great variety listed anyone might find something that personally suits them. It's a good idea to seek natural remedies before being forced to take medication.

Such blatant typos do suggest it has not been professionally edited. A fair reason to deduct a star.

Thanks for your review, Gerry. I agree, we live in an age where there is a lot of stress and anxiety despite all the well-being that we have. We do not have to fish to survive. Is it all this stress necessary?

I have read this book, while reading I felt it's well researched and composed edition for the help. A single thing which challenged me was, prescription of medicine for mental health in open book which may fall on self diagnosis people, which may not benefit entirely without consultation.
