This sounds like a powerful memoir that would speak to those belonging to a minority group.

I agree. I recommend you for reading the book too. It's a great piece of literature for us that want to learn more about racism and oppression, also about woman struggle.

I admire Janice Ellis's courage and strength as she navigates through the complexities of being a minority in America. Her story is both heartbreaking and inspiring, reminding us of the systemic barriers that many face, yet also showcasing the power of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity.

I tip my hat to this woman who has come out on top despite the oppression and challenges she faced. She never stopped pursuing the American dream. She believed and was proactive. I want to read her inspiring story. Thank you for reviewing this book and bringing it to our attention. As Bob Marley sang- One love. One heart. Let's get together and feel all right. :tiphat:

Thank you for your review.
Your sincerity and appreciation in connecting with Janice's experiences as a minority and the related challenges arising from this are noted.
I appreciate this book and the author's journey.
I also come from a minority group and appreciate the battles that had to be overcome in the past. Still, at the same time, I choose not to dwell on the limitations of a minority label in current times, though it's a tricky juggling act sometimes.
I have observed in the present how the past can be used and distorted as a reverse form of dictatorship and further injustices in the present, and it can be equally destructive, so I tend to be wary about dwelling too long on such matters of history.
Congratulations to the author for expressing her story and overcoming the hurdles of her time. I trust she will inspire generations to come through her story.
