Review of The Movie Chair
A caring heart is the best. Nothing can be compared to it!! If you do not have a caring heart, get one or train your heart to become one. You will love it, and you will be glad you did!!
The Movie Chair by Shari Borkin is a short story that uses a chair symbolically. It centers on children and having their interests at heart. It discusses care, provision, protection, love, and good and solid plans for children due to their innocence, vulnerability, and incapability. It places children before adults.
The children connect easily to the chair. The chair observes that children cannot care for themselves independently or fully express their minds or needs. The chair is so sensitive that it thinks for these children and unfailingly does things that can meet their needs. The chair feels she is responsible for the children's welfare. She diligently discharges her self-imposed duties, whether the children know and appreciate them. Interestingly, the children do not forget things done to them, even after a long time.
What is the origin of this chair? Is it just an ordinary chair, or what is so special about it? Where is the chair located? Won't it break or wear out someday?
My favorite aspect of the book is the part where the chair pokes adults with its spring when they are too harsh on the children. This part is so humorous because it kept me laughing out loud.
The book is highly recommended for children, both those who can read on their own and those who cannot read on their own. For those who cannot read on their own, parents or guardians can read it to their ears, or better yet, narrate it as a story. It is best enjoyed at night when it is almost bedtime. This is because it will let the children imagine different things about the book. Also, it is recommended for parents and preschool teachers.
Borkin did an excellent job in this book. The sentences in the book are short and easily comprehended by the reader. Also, the use of many diagrams in the book makes it attractive to the reader. This way, the readers who are likely to be more children will not be bored with too many things to read. Instead, they can read it as many times as possible for maximum enjoyment.
I find no error in this book, and I find nothing to dislike in this book. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars.
