This fast-paced novel throws a newlywed couple, Kelly and Tom, headfirst into a whirlwind of danger on their Honduran honeymoon. The story follows Kelly McBride, a recent bride, on her honeymoon to Honduras with her husband, Tom. Their idyllic getaway takes a sharp turn when Kelly stumbles upon a hidden room in a seemingly ordinary shop, uncovering a plot that threatens the security of North America.

The novel opens with a captivating introduction. Dorothy May Mercer paints a vivid picture of the tropical paradise Kelly and Tom find themselves in, perfectly contrasting the tranquility of their honeymoon with the chaos that soon unfolds. The initial chapters are light and breezy, establishing the loving dynamic between the newlyweds. However, the discovery in the shop throws their honeymoon plans into disarray, propelling them into a world of espionage and international intrigue.

One of the book's strengths is its unique blend of genres. The central romance provides a heartwarming foundation for the story, even as the couple faces extraordinary circumstances. The fast-paced plot keeps the reader engaged, with unexpected twists and turns that maintain the suspense throughout. The introduction of the EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) threat adds a layer of science fiction, giving the story a sense of realism and raising the stakes significantly.

Mercer's characters are well-developed, particularly Kelly. She transforms from a carefree newlywed into a resourceful and determined woman. Tom, while supportive, takes a backseat to Kelly's investigative drive. The supporting characters, though less fleshed out, add depth to the narrative. The inclusion of a villain with a personal vendetta adds a layer of complexity to the plot.

The story explores themes of love, loyalty, and resilience in the face of adversity. Kelly's unwavering determination to prevent the EMP attack showcases the power of courage and quick thinking. The narrative also highlights the importance of resourcefulness and adaptability in a post-disaster scenario.

However, the novel is not without its shortcomings. The pacing falters slightly in the middle section, with some info-dumping that disrupts the flow of the story. While this disrupts the flow somewhat, it doesn't significantly detract from the overall enjoyment. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons stated above. It is worth noting that I found no grammatical errors while reading the book.

E M P Honeymoon is an entertaining and thought-provoking read. It offers a unique blend of genres, well-developed characters, and a suspenseful plot that will keep you guessing until the very end. I recommend it for lovers of action-packed stories with a romantic subplot.
