Non-fiction, generally dry and dense, is what I expected to find in this book. However, "Chasing Dragons Between Dimensions," written by Matthew Emmanuel Weinberg, is not that. It is one of the few non-fiction books that tries to educate everyone, from the non-mathematical to the mathematician-minded, on how a strange, infinite, and complex pattern is omnipresent. It also discusses their creation and their general forms, and finally, how they can be used to better understand and predict the world around us.

What begins as a niche mathematical concept turns into some incredibly profound philosophical topics, and also delves deeper still into the mathematical structures without picking too deeply into the nitty-gritty mathematics behind it, without explaining the steps in the author's uniquely intricate vocabulary. Readers need not worry if they are not math-minded at all, as the author expertly explains topics.

Something that became apparent was the repetition of information, which is great for people who wish to jump straight into a particular chapter and learn from there after reading it many times. However, this would sometimes happen within the chapters themselves, and not just between chapters. I also wished there were a few more pictures to accompany each of the fractals' visualizations; however, the author usually gave stunningly good descriptions to accompany them.

You can tell throughout this book, however, that there is a genuine passion for fractals, and the seemingly different topics are all unified by the fractals. The author also has a complex understanding of not just fractals, but of the mathematics behind them, and their modern-day applications, and where to find them.

Let this book serve as one of the guides for anyone to know anything about something that may seem strange, but has profound implications for the world as a whole.
