This book was actually pretty educational to read along with the storyline. It has it all, education, terrorism, romance factors, and history. I enjoyed reading this story for the most part. Even though it’s labeled as fiction, there are some factual references in the story.

The Devil Among Us is focused on Lara, a FBI agent, who partners with a Mossad agent, Uri, to investigate who is behind the synagogue explosion in New York City. While it looks to be the Jewish community causing the chaos, that may not necessarily be the case. As Lara digs deeper to find out who or what is behind the attack, she finds many truths and has to face some of her past demons in the process.

As someone who doesn’t pay attention to the happenings in the world, I learned a lot about other cultures and distinctions that I wasn’t aware of. This book also gave the reader a deeper look into how terrorism networks work, also shows how one group’s hate can cause world-wide chaos, but then how the affected countries work together and support each other.

There is some light romance within this read, but it isn't heavy on details and it is a very basic reference. This read has the general "members of the opposite sex are working together and develop feelings" cliche that seems to be the norm. Within the romance, is Lara's personal struggles with her past trauma that she must get through if she ever wants to have a relationship.

I thought some areas were a bit over-the-top with names and details, where I ended up really confused on why they were even included. I had the feeling there was some back story that I had missed, and I wondered if this was part of a series. After doing some research, I did find that I was reading book 2 of 5, which would have been helpful information in the beginning. Had I realized it was a series, I would have read the first book, and then followed with this one.

There were some areas with layout and font color issues periodically, but nothing that compromised the book to a distraction level.

My rating was based on the storyline and extra information in the book that did not make sense to me. Had I had the proper information, the references may have made more sense to me and had more relevance.
Overall, I was happy with the book and think other readers who enjoy a historical fiction genre, would enjoy this read.
