I am reviewing the audio book phenomenon Audible. In January of 1998 Audible introduced the first production-volume digital audio player, today it is an hub of audio books. It has over 180,000 titles to choose from, compatible with numerous devices. I had heard about this site but I never tried it out before. My first thoughts were on how accessible the site was and how easy it was to register.

I grew up without kindles or e-books, the closest to Audible I ever had were books on tape we would listen to on family road trips. I don't know why I always found something unlikable about them. To be honest I have never been a huge fan of audio books, I prefer to let my imagination create the voices that are supplied by the narrator, and the prerecorded voices always read too slow for me. It is for that reason I won't be keeping my membership.

That being said I was excited to try Audible out and see if I liked it, and I was thoroughly impressed. All the options of titles, the generous 30 day free trial that gave you an exclusive access to titles, and the quality of the recording were actually surprising. The only drawback I would have to say is how long it took the file to download onto my kindle. Other than that the organization blew me away.

Audible is a wonderful alternative I would recommend to many. Some people like me simply must read by their own imagination but I would recommend it to families on a road trip, teens who aren't big on reading, those whose eyesight is poor, and more. Or perhaps to those who just wish to be comforted by the sound of a kind voice breathing life into their favorite story (I say this because I listened to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz narrated by Anne Hathaway ). The system is apt for anyone with the right device and willing to pay the low price it requires.

I give Audible a 4 out of 4 stars. This is due to its wonderful selection, and low price of just 14.95 a month to members, as well as its superior technological quality. While I regret that I won't be continuing with Audible it is a superb choice for countless kinds of people. I will definitely will be telling my friends about this.
