I had decided to try the Audio Book Service. The first thing I noticed that I felt in my opinion, to be changed, is the amount paid monthly for the app. If you are already paying $14.95/month for the app itself you should be able to have unlimited books since audio books are generally more expensive then books themselves. I do not feel it is fair to spend that much a month on an app, plus extra if a book in that category seems more appealing. I really do not think many people can afford that. I noticed you can get books for free but sometimes there might not be a free one to be interested to read. Then someone might want to purchase one. However, like I said above, most people probably feel they cannot afford both.
Secondly, I did enjoy listening to an audio book once in awhile but I felt that I was still wanting to listen to my music more when exercising, doing chores, or driving. That is what I like. It doesn't mean someone else might not like it.
Thirdly I found that it is disappointing to not know how many pages or chapters you have left. That is something I have found that I enjoy reading more rather than listening is because I know how many pages are left to read. It just felt weird having someone read to me. Sometimes the changes in the voice can be a distraction. I realize that needs to happen to have an idea of what kind of characters are in the book. Depending on who is doing the narration, can get quite annoying at times. It is also weird when their is a scene in the book that is already uncomfortable to read. Then someone reading it to you, makes it more awkward. I'm sure it is hard on the person reading those scenes themselves. I must say, I give them a thumbs up for handling it well. I also found I miss holding a book to, knowing I feel I have more control over the situation.
The last thing I recognized that was hard for me is listening to someone read to me I found I would have a hard time concentrating. Unlike a regular book, when that happens you can go back to where you felt you left off and read over again. In audio books you can not do that which makes it frustrating.
My overall rate for this Audio book service is 2 out of 4. Now if someone feels they may have more time to get a book done by using this service I will recommend. If you are someone that loves to read an actual book and finds the time to read I do not recommend.
