The Nobel Prize by Mois Benarroch is a story about a group of Hispanic writers living in the foreign city of Ixral where almost anything was possible. A controversial writer learns that one of the writers, Jorge who had gone mad is in a psychiatric hospital with an unusual illness that was called Dementia. Dementia is a disorder that causes memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning. It is said that psychiatrists do not understand his disorder. Everyday, Jorge becomes one of the characters in his books.

The Nobel Prize follows through humor, science fiction, and fantasy. The narrator is obsessive of Jorge and visits him everyday. There, he meets a nurse named Eva. She was Kochinian and could not speak French. He also meets an alien, Lextra and falls in love with her. They have a very close relationship throughout the whole story. The narrator soon moves to a new house away from the home he had been for 12 years, being sad since his best friend Alan and his sister Raquel had died.

One of the best parts I liked in The Nobel Prize was the quote, ''And goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, I just reached the 10,000 words that for me are a key point in the progress of any literary work. GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAL!'' This was very hilarious to me and made my day. I did not have a least favorite part in The Nobel Prize but there were some things that bothered me such as the confusion in sentences and the errors like periods between sentences.

Overall, I rate this book, The Nobel Prize by Mois Benarroch a 2 out of 4 stars. I gave it the rating I did because I was sort of ambiguous about it. I liked it a little bit but at other times, I was a bored. If it were possible to take partial points, I would give it a 2.5 out of 4 stars. I was certainly not really ambiguous about it but most of the story was great which is why I gave it 2.5 out of 4 stars for partial points.

I think this book would appeal to people who have an interest in a book about writers and/or a book that gets you thinking about what would happen next. Note that there are some parts in The Nobel Prize that are inappropriate so I recommend people who do not like these parts don't read this book.
