Audio Books has an initial list of twenty three categories including Free Books, TV and Radio, Languages and twenty two categories of genre. Each of these categories have between three to twenty three additional choices. I found a good selection of prominent writers, past and present and quality new books as well as older classics. Each book also lists the reader, so if you have a preference you can choose a book read by your favorite reader. You can choose to download the book or listen to it streaming. The Language section has over forty five different languages to choose from, so there is literally something for everyone. It's also compatible with Apple TV, Apple Watch and Car Play in some cars. The app has a variable narration speed, in case you're a person who wants to finish a book quicker. In the Free Book section there are over 6,000 titles to choose from. The Audio Book library has over 100,00 books to choose from.

I listened to two books; the first, a romance, The Mistress by Danielle Steel, read by Alexander Cendese. He read clearly and correctly pronounced all words. His tone and cadence was pleasing. The drawback for me was the higher pitch he employed for the women and the women all sounded the same. I found it more annoying than helpful. It annoyed me to the extent that I stopped halfway through the book. I think his voice would not have bothered me so much in a different genre. It may not bother a man to listen to him at all.

The second book; a mystery, All Dressed in White by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke, read by Jan Maxwell. Her voice was also clear with all words properly pronounced. Her tone and cadence was also pleasing. She did change her voice enough for each character, to easily differentiate between them. She did not try to overcompensate having a female voice when reading male roles. I thoroughly enjoyed her reading and the book.

I purposely chose two authors that I have read and enjoyed before to better concentrate on the reader and not so much the content of or how well the book was written.

I think Audio Books is an excellent source for recorded books and there is definitely a niche for this service. If I were to decide to listen to another audio book, I would definitely base some of the choice on the reader of the book. I found navigating Audio Books easy and a good choice for a first time user. Because of the choices and the ease in navigation of this app, I give it a 4 out of 4
