If you like books about demons and God, then this is a must read. The author did his research on greater demons. It reminded me of the Immortal Instruments by Cassandra Claire, where there is a secret society that fights demons to protect humans from their destruction and to keep their existence a secret In Raven’s Peak, one hunter is sent to investigate strange activity that has been reported. Thinking that this is her first time to the small mountain town, she does not realize the secrets that it holds and as the secrets unfold, not only from her recent past but within the council as well.

At first, I was confused about where the author was going. The Prologue just seemed to go on for a what felt like a good portion of the book. Though it was necessary to read, it felt like that part of the book, just went on without direction. Once I got into the main storyline, the Prologue made sense. It did help to understand the character, but it still felt longer than most of the chapters.

It was hard to put down. The characters were well developed, and when he introduced someone new to the story, they have a purpose, and it does not take long to understand what direction he is going. The main characters only give you a little of themselves at a time, which leaves the reader wanting to know more about them. As you get an insight into the characters personalities, it is only done a little at a time. It leaves the reader wanting to know more.

I rate this book at a 3 out of 4, even though it is a good book, there is always room for improvement. The plot was slow building at the beginning, so I was worried the rest of the book would be the same way. It was not, which was a plus. Also, I would have liked to know more about the history of the town. One last thing, it would have been nice to know more about the history of the town. It just feels like some random.

In all, I was very satisfied with the read, even with how the author ended the first book. I am looking forward to reading the second and third installments of the series. I was pleased overall with the way it was written and plot of the story. I like a good book about demons, where the author is not afraid of painting a picture. I like gruesome but not when it is over the top. Thank you, Lincoln Cole, for that.

Rated 3 out of 4 stars.
