In the Non-fictional book Health Tips, Myths and Tricks, Dr. Morton E. Tavel shows his true knowledge. Dr. Tavel explains health effects of products, everything from diets to cigarettes. The book also explains the everyday myths that are passed around and why to avoid them. The last portion is written about tricks and strategies various companies use to make money by selling you useless products. Each portion gives a different perspective of health along with different statistics proving each point made by the author. It is written in much detail and the extensive knowledge is evident.
I especially enjoyed this book for the detail and description the author used. It was very interesting and informational. Being someone who is deeply interested in the medical field it definitely expands your knowledge. The book focuses mainly on dietary health and how to diet properly.
My favourite part of the non-fictional piece was the myths being uncovered. Myths that people have believed for ages are contradicted with scientific evidence. I was especially shocked at some of the discoveries that the author made and intense research put into it as well. The reader starts to understand the scams that companies try to advertise as true cures to different health problems. The author refers to this as “Snake Oil” as the companies try to make you buy their products. The book is well written in a way that makes the reader extremely interested.
The only downside to the book is the extensiveness to it and how long the author spends on each subject. Although most parts are just long enough, the first section of the book was a little extensive. The first 23 chapters are all on diet which gets hard to read after a while. However, Health Tips, Myths and Tricks is a good book to definitely keep on your bookshelves whenever a diet or any health question arises. In order to read the book in a short time frame the reader would have to be determined. Although the book is packed with information, the author did a good job of backing up his opinion with lots of evidence.
I would rate the book 3 out of 4 stars because of its extensive knowledge and usefulness. Anyone who is deeply interested in the medical field and is thinking of improving their health should definitely read it. I would not recommend the book to someone who is not interested, or who is not used to slow, detailed, non-fictional pieces.

Thank you very much for your feedback. It is a book that is definitely a good read for anyone in the field or interested in anything related to health. The author is definitely well researched in the medical field. However, he makes it easily understandable to the common person.Bryan777 wrote:You've done good job,you revealed informative knowledge about the book. And it is helpful to anyone who wants optimum health.

I see what you mean by the few errors. I noticed some while I was reading, but I truly did not feel it took away from the book too much. I think 3 out of 4 stars is right where the book fits.

Thank-you so much for the reply! I definitely think you should at least try it. I guess it depends on how interested you are in different medical views. I am glad I made you change you mind, as in my opinion the book is worth a read.Jaime Lync wrote:I learn a lot about many of these myths in my college biology class. I keep reading reviews of this. The review before this make me not want to read it but this one made me want to read it again. Thanks for changing my mind with your awesome review.
