Nissa is the queen-designate of Triannon. Her planet has been invaded by off worlders. They have taken over and begun killing her people. The off worlders force Nissa and 99 other Trianni to flee the only home they have ever known. They load themselves into the only 100 space pods available for escape and launch themselves into another galaxy, in hopes that someone will be able to find them and help to regain control of their home planet.
Tam is an Argenti space warrior, whose home planet has been devastated by plague, leaving his people with only a 12% female population. Tam and the other members of the Argenti Tribe spend their time traveling through space looking for viable resources and possible mates. Imagine Tam’s surprise while traveling on a solo mission when comes upon Nissa’s pod, floating alone in space. He will bring her aboard his ship and rescue her from a fate she doesn’t even know is upon her. She’s been in her pod for nearly 500 years and is deathly sick. The only chance at saving her life is to Bond with her.
Through the Bonding, they will learn everything there is to know about one another. This will seal their fate and ensure that Nissa gets the help she so desperately seeks. However, after finding more pods, including the three containing Nissa’s father, mother and betrothed, things will begin to change for Nissa and Tam. Will Nissa be ready for these changes or the things that have changed on Triannon in the last 500 years?
Although this sci-fi romance takes place in another galaxy and time, I was never left wondering. Imogen paints a vivid picture of every scene. I can picture the forests of Triannon or the Fields of Base Fleet Sierra-Six.
The best part of this book for me is that I could feel the emotions expressed on the pages. Far too often a book falls flat on this aspect. However, I could feel Tam’s love and understand why Nissa would begin to question it. There is confusion, passion, lust and love that will keep you engrossed in this book until the very end. Honestly, I am not usually a sci-fi fan. However, once I got started on this book I had a very hard time putting it down and would recommend it to anyone.
I gave The Bonding by Imogen Keeper 4 out of 4 stars. The book is very well written and appears to have been professionally edited. Imogen keeps the storyline moving and captures you with her detailed writing style. There were little to no grammatical errors. Anything that may have appeared at first glance to have been a misspelling was an Argenti word, and not misspelled at all.
