Raven's Peak, the first book in a thrilling paranormal fantasy series, by Lincoln Cole. From the first pages, I was wrapped up in this world, needing to know what happens next.

A dark, gritty story set in a small town that could really fit anywhere. It was incredibly easy to picture the settings, the buildings, the area, and the people. As with any good thriller, it's completely relatable and realistic, in the sense that I could easily imagine it happening in any small town I may drive through in the future, and I'm sure this story will come to mind often.

Abigail, who I immediately connected with, has quite a horrific mystery to figure out, in a town she'd rather not be stuck in. Having to team up with Haatim added a whole other set of challenges, and made the dynamic of the story truly pop. His past and family legacy was almost more chilling than the evil in the town, and with both tangled together, this was a book I didn't want to put down.

I enjoyed the fact it didn't have a romantic story as one of the main focuses. The love aspect was for family in general, and the challenge of who and what to trust, as life gets twisted. It was refreshingly honest, and deep. I also enjoyed the darker aspects. I wasn't sure how dark it would be at first, but after the prologue, I had a pretty good idea. It does have some gory scenes, and is definitely gritty, with some rough edges.

I adore books with this kind of plot and setting, although I have never come across one this satisfying. I loved every aspect of it, and plan to read it many more times, and look forward to the new things I'm positive I'll realize and experience with each read. I'm also curious to read more of the series in general - I'm sure I'll enjoy any addition to this story. I plan to make this a regular addition to my October reading list, and look forward to enjoying it during the darker time of year, where it would fit in perfectly.

I would definitely recommend this book to other readers, and am truly grateful for the chance to have read it. If you enjoy stories with supernatural elements, and have an open mind, this book would appeal to you. Personally, I loved it, and rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
