The Expelled by Mois Bennarroch. This short story is based around the chance meeting of our main character and a woman he believes he has met many years before. The problem is he ' met ' her before she was actually born. Following this chance encounter, there is a shooting on the bus he is travelling on. The story goes on to describe the terrorist attack and the events following. Our main character has a brief affair that is graphically detailed, so not for the easily offended. This could be an issue as he is married to his wife that he still lives with.

After careful consideration and review of the entire book, I will give it a 2 out of 4 score. Not a terrible book at all, but my main issue with this publication is the tangents that the author has a tendency to go on. A situation will be described and the next thing you know the paragraph/s go off in a completely unrelated direction that has no real relevance to what was originally being detailed. Going into detail can be a useful tool in a story, as you want to help the reader develop a picture of the world you are describing. The author in this case appears to forget where he is and loses the flow of the story.

There are some positives that I feel should be mentioned and these include, relevant topics of the world we currently live in. Without giving away the plot, terrorism, religious conflict and racism are bravely tackled and discussed between the characters. Another positive is the authors ability to paint a clear picture of the main character, with all his faults as well as his talents. The rather crude language at times, actually suits the story line but may not be suitable for all readers.

Grammar and spelling seems to be without error, but there are a couple of places where spaces between words are missing and two words run together. The book has potential to be quite interesting, but the author needs to be careful to avoid losing the readers interest by going off subject. The story was refreshing as it chose a location in the world that is seldom used and gave an insight into an interesting culture.

The text did not offend me at all but the style of description at times did not appeal to me at all. The author may be new to painting a picture of intimacy between two people as it did give me the impression of being awkward. Readers that are drawn to books that describe these scenes will more than likely be disappointed due to the disjointed choice of words and weak description of the situation.
