Solaris Seethes (Solaris Saga Book 1)
Solaris Seethes is a book that will grate against your literary ears as you trudge through this oddly written book. As if written in a different language, but translated poorly. That is until you realize that this scratchy grating sound is actually that starting crescendo of what I hope to be a grand space opera.
With it’s begrudgingly wonderful start to the dramatic scenes that follow. That horrid sound just might be someone’s serenade into the depths of your imagination, bringing you into something that would not be possible otherwise.
This novel is centered around a ship and its crew, and all the emotions involved with being torn away from what you know and being thrust into a situation that you thought would never have been possible in your wildest dreams. This ship is no ordinary ship though, and there is much more to the world of Solaris Seethes than what first meets the eye.
When reading this book, it took me months in order to be able to finish it. Not because of the density of its material. But because I was so unaccustomed to such a writing style. I came close to giving up on this book many times, as I abhorred its written quality. Although, that was not the case for long.
It is a problem that I think plagues many readers and authors, that they have an intended perception of a certain genre. This being a science fiction novel. That when someone goes in a different direction with its style and tone. That it could be seen in disgust. I hated this book.
But this is not the case in point of this review. As people struggle and overcome obstacles, they develop a sort of bond. Something that readers do with their favorite books. They fall in love and hope that they are able to reach back into the world that they have just been in. Of the many different themes and topics, whether put plainly and quite obtuse, there is a sort of hiding within plain sight charm to this book.
What starts as a doomed mission, turns into something that gives me hope, that inspires me to want to strive and be better based on the examples that the characters in this book go through. It makes me see things differently, as most great books do.
this book’s rating from me is 3 out of 4 stars.
Because the writing style is such an unusual one, one that I think could do with a good proofread or at least, light editing. But if you work hard, and persist, I think that there is something grand for you in store that comes with reading this book. As all books have their flaws, we come to accept them, to the point were we would prefer them in such a way.
In conclusion,
I thank you for your time and hope that you have a good one.
