This is the first time that I am going to review a book and also my first time reading a book written by Belle Ami. For me, Escape is a suspense-action romance book. It is about a hero (Cyrus) who is a highly trained spy agent. He is a deep undercover agent and a deactivated mole by Israel for a long time. He became a high ranking official in the Iranian government. The heroine (Layla) is a Harvard educated woman who was kidnapped in Dubai while vacationing there with her boyfriend and later brought by the kidnappers to Iran.

The hero was given orders by his Iranian boss to take the heroine and do whatever is necessary to get information from her. His being a mole by Israel was then activated and he was given a mission by the Israeli government to flee Iran with the heroine and take her to Israel at all cost since it would be beneficial for the Israeli government to help the heroine escape Iran.

My rating for this book is 2 out of 4 stars. I gave this book a 2 because I was kind of getting bored reading the first few chapters since I am a romantic, I wanted the hero and heroine to meet already and for me it took really long for that first meeting to happen. It was a struggle for me reading through the “military espionage jargon” or the military intelligence tactics. My brain just would not cooperate every time I would read through those.

There was a point wherein I wanted to stop reading the book but I said to myself that this is a suspense-action kind of romance and so maybe the author is just trying to build up the suspense of their meeting.

The interest to finish the book was when they finally meet and various information and circumstances would lead to them having to flee Iran. I not only felt my heart throbbing because of the attraction between the hero and heroine but also because of the thrill of their escape from Iran to Israel. I was making my own cinematic visualization when they had to disguise themselves because they were already being chased and checkpoints were placed everywhere. So much action suspense scenes but I was glad that the hero and heroine have a happy ever after ending and that is what I like in every romance novels. It was good that the book was not a series book because I hate it when I have to wait for months to read the continuation of the story and I appreciate the author for giving me that satisfaction in this book.
