Would you be willing to be tempted by attractive and seductive people, go on dates, and potentially flirt with other people in order to stay with the one you love? This is a twisted question to answer and is the reason this book is interesting. No matter how much you love someone, are you strong enough to not be tempted by someone else? Most people would say they are strong enough. This was the case with Stefanie and Cali, the two main characters of The Temptation Trials. Through action-packed twists and turns, these two women face painful and haunting circumstances that test their love for their men.

I couldn’t help but think this was a book version of the reality show Bachelor in Paradise. As a fan of the show, I was entertained throughout this whole book. The more I read, the better this story got. By the last few chapters, I couldn’t stop reading. I was genuinely on the edge of my seat, having no idea how things would end. In the midst of the Bachelor in Paradise drama, there were some strong hints of the book, The Hunger Games. The story takes place soon after World War III in the year 2035. The government has complete power and control over everyone’s lives. Most importantly, the government has control over everyone's love life.

I think what I liked most about this book was the diversity of the characters. The main characters had Japanese, African American, Hispanic, and Egyptian heritage. Reading about characters that were not all Caucasian was a breath of fresh air. I also liked how this book made me think about the world we live in today. The year 2035 is not far off. I was affected by the social and political issues brought up in this story and I was especially affected by the role of the government. This book was not just a fluffy romance; it is a story that alludes to a deeper issue that is relevant today. Reading this book really made me think about the world we live in today and how we can prevent this fiction from becoming a reality.

On the other hand, there were a few things I did not like about this book. A lot of what the main character, Cali, said sounded cheesy and forced. I think the main problem was she sounded like an eighty-year-old instead of a nineteen-year-old. She would say things like, “I didn’t want to appear high diddy…” and “it’s about time I did something to make me feel like I was still in my late adolescence.” I think what I liked least about this book was the writing style. I think it would be helpful if the author, B. Truly, focused more on showing and not just telling. She told the reader what was happening instead of showing us through dialogue, facial expressions, and gestures.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I would recommend others to read this book. Overall, this was a good book. It wasn’t an excellent book, but it was entertaining and grabbed my attention. I think this book would appeal to young adults the most. I think anyone from the ages of sixteen to twenty-five would enjoy this book. I would also recommend this read to Bachelor and Hunger Games fans. I wouldn’t recommend this book to older audiences. I don’t think my mom or grandma would enjoy this book as much as my sister would.
