Mois Benarroch is one of the most enigmatic figures in today's world literature. his style of writing is very eclectic. He is very good at charming his way with words, reflecting his emotions perfectly well. He can lure the reader with his poetic magnetism, having them fall in love with words, sentences and narrative itself.

Mois Benarroch’s Raquel Says is a translated by Sally Seward. It’s a story between two people, Mois and Raquel, living a parallel lives from each other. Having same things and doing same things at every moments of their lives. But what happens when two parallel lives intersect? The impossible happens, and what should not happen, happens.

Mois Benarroch in this novel reveals about his encounter with Raquel, his soul mate. Introducing and letting it discover how two people are born in the same city, almost on the same day, marry similar people, give their children the same names, and write very similar books, without ever having seen each other or met until they reach the age of forty.

The narrator begins his story by portraying three different stages of his life, hence mirroring himself with three major hardships of his life, he describe how these things have shaped him into what he has become. Now at the age forty, his wife is probably cheating on him with another man and he had finally found his soul mate, Raquel, which he has been writing about her all his life. His first encounter with her is uncertain, but he mentions that Raquel’s father had asked previously to marry Mois’s mother. Now at the age of forty they found each other and has been communicating through emails.

This novel introduces the reader with unique love story, story about soul mates, life and journey. As what happens when two soul mate meet, two authors with two similar minds and how things develop between them allowing them to discover selves just as looking onto mirror and completing each other as Mois describes – “ two one armed people, one right hand and one left hand only together can we applaud our long journey.” As writers they together introduce us to a world where words and letters are alive. Sometimes the book questions reality, loses itself a lot, flow between characters and plot is not so good. This makes it a challenging to read as the book looses the connection between the reader and the narrator. Hence for this reason, I rate this book 2 out of 4. Plot and content of the book are very philosophical. Thus leading to endless possibilities. This might bore the readers, also, the cover art is not impressive enough.
This book is recommended to those who like a challenging read with a hit of poetic charm.
