Raven's Peak is described as a mystery thriller. In the beginning it starts a little slow and it's understandable. The author gives us a little backstory on what happened in the past so we can see how the main characters got to where they are. Then he introduces our two main characters.
First we have Abigail who we find out had a really hard time growing up. She is raised in the world of the supernatural and is trained as a hunter by her mentor. She works for the Council which is an organisation that deals with all things supernatural. Unfortunately Abigail and the Council don't have the best of relationships. That's why they give her minor jobs to do. During a basic mission Abigail meets our second character, Haatim and her life turnes upside down.
Haatim is an ordinary guy and knows nothing about the supernatural. Well yes he knows about the supernatural because he was raised really religious by his father but he never believed it to be real. That is until he meets Abigail.
Together they go on a new mission in a little town called Raven's Peak. There they see some really strange things. The people of the town start behaving really weird. They try to find the source of all this madness and when they finally do they are determined to stop it putting their own lives on the line.
The book is really fast paced and a real page turner. Towards the end i just couldn't put it down because i had to know what happened next. At the end of the book the author says that he was inspired by Stephen King. That is so true. The writting reminded me so much of Stephen king. So if you like mystery, thrillers, supernatural and/or Stephen King then this is the book for you. It sure was the book for me! That's why i'm giving it 4 out of 4 stars. If i had to say something negative about this book it would be that i would like a few more characters. Most of the book is about two characters and their interactions. Maybe this is because i'm used to Stephen King's books where he has too many characters. You almost need to take notes so you know who is who in his books. I have to say that in reality i did not expect much when i started reading this book. That's what i do with every book. That's because most books i read aren't really that good in my opinion at least. Sometimes though i get pleasently surprised and i really like a book. This was the case with this book.
