When you replay what has happened, what will happen, and all the possibilities of the book you are reading, you know it is a great book. You play back what is happening in the book on the back of your eyelids right before falling asleep, you know that you will pick this book up and read it any number of times. That is what happened to me with this book. I could not just read and read, I had to let it sink in and wonder about it. The twists and turns this book puts you through keeps you on the edge of your seat. That is why I loved this book.
The 11:05 Murders (Inspector Sheehan Mysteries #2) by Brian O'Hare is set in Northern Ireland. The beginning of the book opens up with a crime in the past that sets off future events. Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan has a new Sergeant formerly from a station full of corruption. Sergeant Denise Stewart, newly appointed and untested, finds herself in the middle her first murder right off the bat. Thrown together with a new team, she tries her best to adjust to her new position. While Crown Prosecutor Robert Turner is there to cheer Denise on with praises, she tries her best to keep her head down and do her job. It starts off as one murder at 11:05 at night, but quickly turns into more. Three different murders, three different Tuesday evenings, all with watches stopped at 11:05 exactly. Information that leads to dead ends and more questions keeps popping up. It seems like there are no connections to anything that is going on. Soon, a mystery informant makes themselves known to Sergeant Denise, pointing to more clues and their connections. Mystery informant, past troubles, stalkers, and weird twists surround Sergeant Denise and the team. They have to figure out these murders before something worse happens.
I was hard pressed in finding something that I did not like about this book. Only in one part did I find to be a little disappointing, the ending, catching the bad guy, did seem a little anti climatic. Even with that, I truly enjoyed reading this book and thinking about it.
I believe that anyone who likes to read about crime, mystery, intrigue, and likes a good plot twist, would enjoy this book. The police procedure was wonderfully explained. It was enjoyable to read from the female perspective. All too often you find police and crime books from the male perspective with the females being the victims.
I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I thought it was very well written. The book certainly kept me guessing and I loved that. I look forward to reading more books in this series and by this author.
