The first impression I had about this book was that it is surprising and easy to read. It is not a novel that has Adele as a main character but her role is one of the most important ones in telling the story. The book follows the footsteps of two men and a woman and the way each event in their lives is mirrored in one of Adele’s songs.

Elias seems to be a very rational man who lives his life in the fascinating Rome. However, he doesn’t seem to be able to get over the memories he has from a few years ago when he met the woman that changed everything for him. The struggle he faces as he tries to choose between the ordinary life and following an illusion, keeps the reader connected until the very last page.

Yaser is a talented doctor who faces the problems of a marriage that he tries desperately to save. Watching him, we can almost feel the sacrifice, the compromises and the need for freedom and solitude. His only joy seems to be the love for his children, which he has in common with the third main character.

Nadia is an ambitious woman living in an unfair world where everything is decided by men. Even though she is determined and fearless, always wanting what is best for her and her son, she has to go through all kinds of disappointments and setbacks. But just like for all characters, Adele’s concert seems the solution to all her problems and a fresh start.

All these characters are, in a way, at certain crossroads in their lives. They all have to decide what matters most to them, what sacrifices they are willing to make and how far can they go to achieve their goals and dreams. That is one of the things I liked the most while reading this book – the feeling that they just couldn’t go on with their lives as they were, their need of change and the cost they have to pay for it. Another aspect I loved was the end of every chapter and the way Adele’s lyrics could fit so perfectly with the emotions the characters and reader were feeling.

Even though I can’t really put my finger on something I didn’t like while reading this novel, I will give it 3 out of 4 stars only because it isn’t the type of book I would recommend to a friend or something that I would like to read again.

I was wondering too whether Adele could be asked to give a reaction to the book since the authors are obviously her fans.

I haven't read the book myself though the reviews are certainly more than encouraging. Hope to remedy that soon.

A reaction from Adele would truly be amazing. I'm not a huge fan of the book but I read a lot of reviews and a many readers really loved it. So I guess it's all about your taste in books

Nice review!
I enjoyed the book also. My best character is Nadia. Although her decisions seems disrespectful and unforgiving sometimes, I liked her determination to get the best for her son.

I liked Nadia too. She was so powerful and strong and the way she couldn't be intimidated was amazing.

I like your honesty as depicted by this review. I am still going to read it though. It seems to be quite an interesting book.
