The Story unfolds in Iran at a time whereby there is a great rivalry between Israel and Iran. We are introduced to our main character Cyrus, who is the assistant of Oghab2’s deputy director. Oghab2 is a part of MOIS, the highest intelligence authority in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He has been mentored to the position by Jalal Rahimi, the deputy director Oghab2. Cyrus is a nuclear scientist. We later learn that he is a Jew and an Israeli spy under Mossad. He is on a revenge mission against Jalal who had raped his mother 30yrs ago.
Fate puts in his path Layla an Israeli Jew, who has been kidnapped from Dubai when she had gone visiting with her boyfriend Zamir ,a Saudi Arab. The kidnap was meant to earn Iran a good ransom amount as Zamir is the son of a Dubai tycoon. Layla is the daughter of Aleck Wallace a professor at Cambridge and a nuclear scientist.
Aleck appeals to the prime minister of Israel and Cyrus is tasked to rescue Layla under the instructions that if he doesn’t manage to rescue her, he will have to kill her to avoid having Aleck as a target for blackmail by Iran. A romance ensues between Layla and Cyrus and they get married after the rescue and an eventful courtship. Cyrus’ career as a spy comes to an end because the rescue mission has blown his cover.
The book is very interesting. I had to make a conscious effort to take a break from reading it. There is a very high level of creativity combining the irony of a mismanaged country, cultural and religious clashes, affairs, gay-ism stigma, hypocrisy, two countries at war, technology, romance, passion and revenge.
The events have an easy flow and they are clearly elaborated that a reader can get a clear picture of what the author is saying. However, the sexual intercourse scenes may appear obscene to conservative readers, but at the same time be very appealing to the liberal readers.
The book gives us a taste of the future of technology in that Cyrus receives information from Mossad Headquarters through his glasses and that he is being warned about dangers around them all the way from Tel Aviv. The rescue plane also manages to cross into Iran undetected.
The book points out that it is possible for people from different cultural and religious backgrounds to peacefully coexist. It also indirectly advocates for the avoidance of nuclear wars. That is why we have the nuclear scientists Aleck and Cyrus not supporting the idea of manufacturing nuclear weapons. Cyrus has also chosen a double life in an attempt to make sure that Iran doesn’t become nuclearized.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as the events are well articulated, with no grammatical errors and it is professionally edited. The book will be very appealing to the liberal fiction lovers. The targeted audience should be adults legally recognized as such.
