Life’s experiences are said to be the best teachers. The characters in this piece of work learn this as they seek answers to challenges facing them. In a self finding journey to rediscover their happiness and purpose for life they follow a trail, hoping that the answers they seek will restore meaning in their lives and provide them the desire they much need to soldier on. Coincidentally they all seek solace and comfort in their unwavering and relentless love for a common unifying factor – Adele.
The seamless transition by the author from one characters story to another was the highlight of the book in my opinion. In that, the author was able to effortlessly bring the reader to change from the end of one captivating chapter on one character to the intrigue of a new chapter about another character. Moreover, this break in narration keeps the reader in suspense as one can’t wait to know what happens next.
Sadly however, in parts of the book the essence of time was at moments foregone, meaning the story was in some instances rushed. This in turn left the reader wishing that at least the author would have added more to some parts of the story. This from instances where some scenes in the book happened so fast, leaving the reader wondering on the expectation earlier built from a previous chapter, resulting in query and as such leaving the reader wondering ‘Really! Was all that there was to the fuss created initially? (Pardon for the lack thereof of a better word than fuss)
To this extent, I would rate the book at 3 out of 4 stars as the author managed to arouse my interest in reading the book in two reads and kept me captivated by the scenarios that played out and were brought out in the book which largely relate to daily situations that occur in real life. The author through relating such occurrences is able to connect through these aspects with the reader. The ability to bring out the setting, cultures, activities of the cities and the people in the book in a clear understandable profile is also admirable. I was particularly fascinated by the city of Marrakesh. A grammatical error on page thirteen though qualified not to rate the book at four stars.
Largely the book has no border as to the specific type of people it would appeal to. This to a large extent because the authors focus to this specific theme then relates to a universal audience, as any reader would relate to incidents arising from the book. Having stated that however, I would recommend the book highly to people in marital relationships mainly because of the insight it brings to the matter pertaining marriages.
Conclusively then, the authors ideas, plot and expected result are majorly successful. They are able to bring out the concerns of the characters and address them. They also provide the reader a platform to relate to the issues emanating from the book hence creating a connection between the reader and the authors work. A good read worth the time. I would also like to put emphasis on the fact that, the authors have laid a foundation on which they can deliver more of their work in future.
