I am rating the book Raven’s Peak written by Lincoln Cole. This is a great book with a lot of action and unforeseen plot twists! The book is fictional and highlights the supernatural but also has plenty of characters and human interaction. The story starts out with a bang and keeps on delivering until the very end. I could hardly put it down!

I rate this book 3 stars out of 4. I was tempted to rate it 4 out of 4 but held back due to a couple of typographical errors and because the characters could have been developed a bit more. For instance, I would have liked to know a more about the other members of the Council or perhaps known more details about the relationship between Arthur and Abigail and her conversion.

Nonetheless, I am confident that readers who enjoy Dean Koontz or Stephen King will find this book appealing and enjoyable. There are horrific elements which are portrayed with enough details to paint a vivid mental picture but without gratuitous violence. There is also a strong central theme highlighting the struggle between the forces of good and the forces of evil and how the line between the two can sometimes seem blurred.

There may be a limited number of readers who wouldn’t like this book. Perhaps some fundamentalist Christians would view it in a poor light but it could also be that others would welcome it since it gives preference to the forces of light rather than darkness. There are a few references to God as a female entity which would probably not be well received by that same crowd and it could be that the grouping of many different religious faiths as “good” or “acceptable” would not be either.

I did find a few typographical errors and would like to point them out for the author’s benefit. It is obvious from the excellent writing style that he does so with pride and good workmanship so the references are not to be intended as anything other than to offer a helping hand. In chapter one, paragraph 7 there is a line that reads, “He knew how must look,…”. I believe it should read, “He knew how he must look…”. Also, in chapter 16 in the 14th paragraph after the first break of three stars the demon says, “I’ve been speaking with him rather often these last months, and suffice to say…”. Perhaps it should read, “…and suffice it to say…”. Again, this is no big deal when compared to this very well written story.
