Have you ever had a book keep you awake at night? You put it down, toss and turn because you’re wondering what’s going to happen next, and eventually, pick it back up again? Well if not, this is what Lincoln Cole will have you do in his thrilling horror novel, Raven’s Peak. Raven’s Peak is book one in the World on Fire series. The book begins with a well-developed prologue that introduces The Reverend, also known as Arthur. Arthur has committed himself to this prison for the supernatural. His days there consist of self-persecution and condemnation until he is visited by Frieda, an old colleague who is in desperate need of his help.

Knowing that Arthur would go to ends of the earth for one particular person, Abigail, he leaves the facility and goes where he is needed most. Fast forward 5 months later, we meet Abigail and Haatim. Haatim is a measly young adult who writes blogs, goes to a coffee shop just about every day, and has no sort of excitement in his life. Just as he is given a special job from a stranger, he meets Abigail and learns he has a special connection to the paranormal life that he is unaware of. As Abigail is haunted by events in her past, she realizes Haatim may be of good use to her. So, together they set off to fight against the evil that has been lurking in Raven’s Peak.

Little to say, the book lured me into its ravishing descriptive pages right away. If you are not one for graphic, gory details than this book may not be for you. However, if you are looking for non-stop action, maniacal plot twists, a book that grabs you by the throat and leaves you breathless, then this book is for you. What I enjoyed most about this book is how appealingly detailed Cole spread these words across the page. You can feel the pain, heartbreak, fear, and all emotions shared by the characters, goosebumps will be a permanent thing for you until you finish this masterpiece.

However, I did have one little issue with the grammar. As you read you will see there are a few grammar errors, such as words being misspelled, but that does not completely ruin the book. This book is worth the read, I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the next two books in the series, Raven’s Fall and Raven’s Rise!

I rate this book a solid 3 out of 4 stars. I give the book this rating because of the spelling errors, other than that this book is a wonderful read. I highly recommend this book, but suggest to make sure you are not busy because once you start this work of art, you will not want to put it down!
