Raven's peak is the first book in the world on fire series by Lincoln Cole and it is for those who enjoy action/supernatural fiction. It is a great book.
Raven's peak is a tiny old mining town which seems dead but when you take a close look, it's filled with lots of supernatural activities. It's beings with Agabail Dressler who was possessed by a demon and her mentor who saves her. When she recovers, she finds out her mentor is missing and no one is trying to find out what happened to him. She tries to piece together what happened to her mentor Arthur who goes missing after he saves her from a demon possession. She goes against the council who feels she can't be trusted after she loses the memory of the attack and with only the help of her supervisor Freida she tries to piece together the event that took place that day.
The search leads her to Haatim Arison a non descriptive guy who has lost his faith in God after the death of his sister. He is used as bait to lure Abigail to a trap, he ends up being thrown into the world of the supernatural, he is captured and nearly diesbut is saved by Abigail, he realizes his strength, faces his fears and discovers a truth about his father, he in turn helps Abigail. At the end his faith is not restored but he feels he can believe in something again.
A beautifully written story that drew me in from the prologue, it is a real page turner and i couldn't wait to see what happened next. It brings up a question about what you stand for and how far you are willing to go for your beliefs. It also describes God as a female, which some people believe to be true and other will find that to be Sacrilegious and outrageous, thou I don't believe that God is a woman, it showcases the different things people believe in.
It's a fast paced book with lots of action, doging bullets and fighting scenes, you can feel Abigail's drive and confidence and her will to stop at nothing till she finds out what happened to Arthur without compromising her beliefs.
Apart from the little typo in the prologue, the book is great.
I love this book and give it 4 out of 4 stars, I really enjoyed it, the drive and courage the characters protrays. Although the book is a start of a series, the ending doesn't leave you unfulfilled but on a right note, anticipating the next book. I would recommend it to all those who loves action even if you aren't a fan of the supernatural.
