Adele's genius takes us into the lives of three arab families. A single mother who is fighting for her freedom, a lover who goes in search of his lost love and a couple that tries to keep their marriage working. From Rome in Italy through Marrakech, Morocco, Amman, Jordan and Las Vegas, USA and back to Verona, Italy, R. I. Alyaseer and A. I. Alyaseer bring out a story of love, faith and family connected by Adele.
After about four years Adele is finally going on tour. Elias meets a fortune teller who says his relationship to Malika was ended as a result of a spell that would be broken back home in Marrakech. He relieves every moment with his love Malika as he goes back to break the curse and reunite with her. A journey that goes through Adele's lyrics to her concert.
Nadia had battled tradition and her whole perception of life's "happy ever after" to get her freedom from an abusive marriage. This freedom is continuously tested and tried to be trampled on as she sought to do best for the most important part of her being, take her son to his favorite artist, Adele's concert. We are taken through her struggles in a very macho society, Amman, Jordan. From her ex husband, to her uncles and even her boss.
In Vegas, Mariam and Yaser seek the help of Dr. Brown, a marriage counselor after their eight years marriage approaches breaking point. The couple struggles to find one happy memory. We get a look at the trials of marriage and a search for love; love for one's self and love for God. The one memory they finally settle on is of Nadia choking on the engagement ring from her cup of coffee as an out of perspective Adele song played in the background as Yaser proposed to her. The couple mange to decide to go to Adele's concert in Verona in a bid to rekindle their love. As shaky as the marriage was, so was this agreement.
Every page of the book brings out the burning desire to read on and find out. The stories had interesting unprecedented twist and turns every now and then. Several thought provoking issues were raised and examined in the midst of the exciting drama. The question of God, of tradition, a woman's right and perhaps most important child abuse and trafficking were brought out in a subtle yet vivid way. I enjoyed every page and didn't drop the book till I finished reading it.
Should I mention anything negative about the book it would be a couple of grammatical errors and an omission. This is actually after really stretching it. I guess "every story has its scars".
I would rate the book a 4 out of 4. It is a well written interesting piece of work. My love for Adele just increased my interest in the book. For my fellow lovers of Adele who love a lovers tale and are willing to shed a tear or more out of passion, you should have read this book.
