While reading this book, I was not sure whether I downloaded the incomplete version or standard version. I say this because it did not have a cover or bio of any sort. So my critique below will be based on this particular copy.

That said, it was an interesting read, both in a bad and a good way. The author addresses important issues affecting the American society today and gives her personal view on these matters. One of these is the issue of freedom.Annahita regards the freedom of America as a hoax. According to her ‘free America’ is an illusion perpetuated by the American society. She argues that America is no way freer than other developed countries.

She bases this argument on her own experience as an immigrant American who feels like a slave in America. Annahita talks about how she has been exposed to racism and hate attacks by other Americans- because of her Iranian roots-and how this for years affecting her self-esteem. She says embracing her spirituality and maintaining an open mind helped her cope with the situation.

In chapter four, Annahita she tackles other societal vices such as abortion and homosexually. She expresses her dissatisfaction with the amount of discrimination directed towards abortionists and homosexuals. She addresses hate crimes and abuses against minorities being on the increase in America. She points fingers at religionists who use their faith to perpetuate hate and prejudice against others. She terms them as doing the devils work.

In chapter six to chapter 8, she raises an interesting issue of social classes. Annahita believes that the only way to get rid of poverty is by streamlining the social classes. She insinuates that scrapping the top class of the extremely rich and distributing it across the classes will bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. I was not quite convinced by this analogy. I think it takes more than splitting and spreading wealth among the social classes to erase poverty. I feel like she needs to research more on this and speak from an economist’s point of view.

On content, the book needs more depth and research on the important subject matters it addresses. Without these, it reads more like a diary with personal feelings more than an advocate championing for rights and privileges of minorities. Sometimes she sounded like she was whining.

The book needs to be themed. The chapters should have sub-tittles informing the reader which sub-matters are being addressed. I also noticed that her chapters were too short. The subject matters were not discussed exhaustively as would have been expected. She basically hurried through most topics.
I noticed a few typos. The first sentence on the last paragraph of chapter 11 has a grammatical error, it does not make sense. She should also work on her punctuation. An example is chapter 17, the second paragraph. The word ‘second’ should have a comma right after it.

Over all, it was an interesting read. It would be a good book if Annahita puts more work into it. She should research the topics, discuss them exhaustively and blend that with her own opinion. I give this book 1 out of 4. Good subject matter but could use some improvement. I feel this book would appeal to a lot of philosophers.
