Yesterday by Samyann is a historical, romance and paranormal novel. The author happens to articulate events admirably. It is a nine - month effort of hours of research, notes and writing. Samyann contemplates on writing a second novel, What Goes Around.
The story begins by introduction of Amanda Parker who happens to save Mark Patrick Callahan, a Chicago PD police officer from a fatal accident. She becomes a heroine in her own making sought by numerous media houses for interviews. Amanda and Mark have something striking and interesting they cannot place their hands on comes into picture; they feel they have known each other before the accident but comprehend vividly that they have never met before. Amanda has several unanswered questions from remembering where they might have met with Mark to what is so compelling about the clock she sees in Ed's premises.
Lack of commitment is now the only option left for Amanda as everyone she loves ends up dead. The novel also brings about a story of tragic journey of a slave young girl escaping the South during the American Civil War and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
When I first started reading the book, I was glued not even to the title but the statement, 'A Novel of Reincarnation'. This provoked and raised my expectations. Many questions ran through my mind. This compelled me into having an urge to comprehend what this reincarnation was all about. Unfortunately the first few pages were tremendously descriptive with infinite vocabularies that rendered me almost losing psych. Alas! I was wrong. Getting to page 10 everything shifted.
Yesterday novel is a well balanced and set up book. Firstly, mystery has been blended with romance. Secondly, the book is more of a movie. Every scene has a break before getting to another. This is intelligibly depicted in very few books have this style of writing.
Samyann has brought out the aspect of romance and love between Mark and Amanda emphatically but in a very respectful manner. She leaves a reader thirsting and hungry for wanting to know what the next point is.
The aspect of description of events has also rocked the book. You can figure out and follow through every event as if you are in the scene. The writer describes every actions of the characters. This facilitates clear figuring out of story.
One thing that has undoubtedly impressed me about the book is that the story has been set rolling from the first page unlike most books where front pages are dominated by all sorts of inscriptions. This is straight to the point.
The style of inditing in italic to portray a character is contemplating is a manner to fall in love with. As I read I found it easy in determining when a character is in recall state.
However, the book has some little areas to work on. For instant, there is so much vocabularies in subsequent paragraphs. This easily breaks the momentum gained in attempt to grasp every actions in the story. I prefer if the author would try to use some 'softer' language the the reader to have a flow.
All in all the book is one of the best I give it a 3 out of 4 scores. Any other literature by the author, Samyann is my recommendation.
