Jacqui Pretty delivers on her promise to show “How any entrepreneur can write an awesome book.” in her remarkable book, Book Blueprint.
The writer moves into four parts pointing out steps for writing a book: the right idea, the right structure, the right content, and the right language. Each section includes great ideas, actionable steps, solutions to problems, and many examples for the reader. The show and tell aspects of the book are extraordinary.
Almost every page is an example of good teaching and writing skills to match the enthusiasm of the author. The book is a well thought out teaching instrument that will encourage any expert to write about his or her expertise. I am impressed with the educational philosophy behind the writing and believe that the author understands not only how to motivate but also how to facilitate good writing. I like the idea that the author writes crisply and gets to the point in a minimal number of pages. The 185-page length of the book is a plus. Too many books about too many things are too long. There is nothing about this contribution to the craft of writing that I dislike.
There are lots of action steps that actualize the great ideas described by the writer. The initial step is carefully described together with specific instructions on how to achieve the goal set forth.
An illustration of the value-added nature of the book is how the writer starts with the encouraging comment: “You don’t need to be inspired to find the right idea. You don’t need to set aside months of your hard-earned time. All you need is the right formula, and to put your fingers to the keyboard.”-Page 8. The writer goes on to provide this useful method to the reader’s delight.
The author understands an organized worldview and displays that perspective in her writing. The pace is rapid with no wasted time on side issues. The people that she interviews and the stories she tells are appropriate to the subject and fit the tone and color of a business oriented reader. There are many books about writing on the market, but this one focuses on the busy executive who has an expertise and a desire to share that with others.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend Book Blueprint to anyone who considers themselves to be an expert on any subject. The reader will discover a workable way to write successfully about that expertise.

Great review, just finished reading this book and I agree with your rating. I've been working on a book myself. Blueprint pushed that 8 year draft to almost complete. It really is a good book.
