Marrying a Playboy Billionaire is a romance novel by H M Irwing, an Australian author who also writes fantasy and mystery books.
In an attempt to appease her guilt, clear her conscience and settle a debt, Aria Longbottom suggests to her bosses a business proposition that will lead her to the offices of Billionaire playboy, Justin Kay. Aria’s intentions are to seal the deal and settle an old debt she thinks she owes Justin. Justin on the other hand, has other plans in mind for Aria. He wants Aria in his bed and as his wife. Justin’s mother wants Aria and Justin to get married because Aria prevented Justin from falling over the brink 5 years ago. Aria is uncertain if she should marry Justin.
Aria’s mother, a close friend of Justin’s mother is excited and she also wants the two to get married. She invites Linda, her niece, to her home. Linda and Aria don’t see eye to eye and Aria isn’t happy with her mother’s decision to invite Linda and her husband Dale Carmichael. Aria’s mother has a soft spot for Linda and always chooses her over Aria even when Linda is in the wrong.
Will Aria and Justin get married? Will there be obstacles as Justin tries to get Aria to marry him? How did Aria prevent Justin from falling over the brink? What exactly happened between Aria and her cousin Linda? How exactly does Dale come into the picture? Will Aria’s mother continue favoring Linda over Aria? Read the book to get answers to these questions.
I liked the way H M Irwing portrays Justin as an exuberant person and not the stereotype cold-hearted and ruthless character given to most billionaire playboys in romance novels. However his place as a playboy is not well brought out. Aria’s character is well developed. I think the relationship between Aria and Justin is not well developed. I feel it could have been further developed to strongly bring out how the feel about each other.
I would have liked if the novel had more dialogue in it to enable the reader to connect with the characters and make the story livelier. Dialogue makes a reader be part of the story and also connects the reader with the characters emotionally, making the story more enjoyable. The novel has a good story line but there is much room for improvement when it comes to creativity. There is good use of grammar with minimal grammatical errors and good command of vocabulary.
Marrying a Playboy Billionaire is a good romance novel but it could have been better. I rate it 2 out of 4 stars. I strongly believe further development of the story line and some creativity would get this book a higher rating. I would recommend it to romance lovers who like R rated scenes. H M Irwing has great potential as an author and I’d like to read more of his books in future.
