Lincoln Cole’s Raven's Peak is a multi genre story with elements of horror, mystery and a whole lot of brutality. It is the first instalment of the World on Fire series. This story starts off with an Indian boy named Haatim as he meets a stranger in a library in Arizona. That said stranger believes that he is being followed. He offers Haatim a job to collect enough evidence to send to the police. Considering it an easy way to make money, Haatim agrees. The woman who was supposedly following the man turns out to be Abigail, a hunter working for a secret religious organization to protect humans from demons. After being confronted and due to some unlikely circumstances, Haatim finds himself following Abigail to a town called Raven's Peak. Later on, our two protagonists figure out that whatever lurks in that mysterious town is far more dangerous than what any of them had ever imagined.

Raven's Peak is an action packed thriller with numerous plot twists and fight scenes which keep the reader captivated throughout its course. This story emphasises on the importance of having faith and the determination of believing in something or someone as a Higher power. We are introduced to a whole new world where demons exist in their most lethal and horrific state. It enlightens the scary truth of evil and how dangerous their impact can be on a person.

This book was edited carefully and it was hard for me to find any errors. Lincoln Cole has done a fantastic job in writing this story. Everything from the setting to the dialogue was phenomenal. The description of the characters and the setting was done perfectly. I could easily imagine the characters and the places mentioned in this book. The dialogue was realistic which made the story even more interesting. The characters were well developed and easy to relate to.

My favourite part about this book is the portrayal of a very strong female character. Abigail is a badass, sarcastic and an extremely tough character who I immediately fell in love with. She is not dependant on anyone and does what she thinks is right. Everything unravels bit by bit, helping the reader to fully understand and grasp the story. The plot is carefully planned out. Everything is explained and has a meaning. The relationship between Haatim and Abigail is one of the most intriguing parts of the story. Their humorous back and forth felt refreshing as compared to the evil and bloodshed in the story. The portrayal of demons and their brutality is done in an excellent way. I had goose bumps just reading about them. In my opinion, there was nothing negative about this story. I absolutely loved it.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I think it has a nice balance between horror and mystery which sets off an alluring tone. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys books of these genres.
