Doesn't everyone have the dream to want to quit their jobs and find freedom to Paradise? Searching for Paradise by T.L. Hughes is just the way it sounds. This is a true story about three friends in the year 1984 were tired of working 8-5 jobs. So they decided to quit to search for their own Paradise by driving from California to Boston to catch a flight that will take them to Europe.

The travelers will take on an adventure of stopping at places like Aspen to see the famous Marooned Bells Mountains, The University of Kansas where Lucas graduated college, and Times Square in New York! Declan and Mike were even ushers in a wedding. During the road trip, Mike also had a hard time moving forward from his relationship with his ex. Will Mike be able to find happiness on the trip to help him move on with his life?

Three beach boy friends spend almost every day for quite awhile together in one car driving for long periods of time from state to state. Having spent that amount of time, there was no drama between the men. They got along well. The men would pick and choose which places to go so that each of them get to see something they would like to explore. That way no one was left out.

The one thing I did not like about the story was trying to figure out the main character's name. It took quite awhile until Mike's name was finally mentioned. The two friends that went with Mike were mentioned right away. So it was kind of frustrating trying to figure out who was telling the story especially since Mike was telling stories about his life from the past at the beginning.

I enjoyed the fact the three friends decided to drive from California to Boston. It gave more detail as to what they were doing. So you actually felt like you were right their with them enjoying the experiences. It was nice reading about their friends and family. Sometimes when people go on a trip it's just for pleasure not to visit people. The fact these three men would stop to make it a point to visit along the way was heartwarming.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The author did a very good job of detailing the trip and adding stories from Mike's past. The characters were also very well described except giving out Mike's name at the beginning so that it wasn't too confusing. If you are looking for something different to read I highly recommend this book.
