A Reverend involuntarily locked by a special jail; cherish all the physical pain presented by the extreme environment and his own daily ritual. One day, he got a visitor, asking him none but a help of an unfinished mission. Apparently, there are three hunter girls sent in this mission, but two had found dead. No one could handle this unfinished task, but him. He wanted to refuse but the fact that maybe the last one girl still alive had him giving a hand. He was going to rescue his daughter, and if it was already late, he would make the demon regret.

Abigail was keen to save her father. After saving her life, Arthur was gone. No one knew where he was taken to, even the Council. And there was nothing Abigail could remember from when she was possessed by the demon which took Arthur away. Thanks to this expanded task that unexpectedly involved a man with a mystery background, she learned later that any clues she needed to track down her father was indeed very close to her. But that was not as easy as it sounded.

Because of his little sister’s death, Haatim ran away from his family and losing faith, despite his father’s position and his education background; theologies. For him supernatural was not more than theories. It was until he met a mysterious girl he was supposed to take pictures of for a mysterious man that he knew he was wrong all this time.

This book griped me from the start. From the Prologue only, we could get many things about the book; the interesting storyline, a perfect writing style, and a very good characterization. It’s about supernatural, yes. It’s about fighting against demons, yes. It’s about mystery, very yes. One thing that would make us curious from the Prologue (besides what happen next to Arthur and where he was taken to) was his unusual, special power for a human. He surely is not an ordinary human. You would wonder and want to know what happened to him before this story begins.

As the synopsis above, this book is mainly written from those three characters’ point of view. We could find others’ POV too and the writing style of each POV fits the character very well. It’s helpful in understanding and feeling the emotions of every character; why she/he makes some decisions in the story. Besides, it brings new colors to the story as it would prevent us from boredom by reading the story from different angles. Arthur’s is my favorite by the way. His emotions, his thoughts are written so beautifully (though you should be careful with some self-harm scene).

One thing about this decision making, though; some of them are too good to be true. It’s not unusual for the protagonists to choose the best option. But I find that (as I was going further through the chapters) they are all in the comfort zone. So unlike those common stories in the same genre (where the protagonist makes some decisions that consequences are scariest than the ghost or demon itself), here we would find clever protagonists. They think precisely about the consequences also about what should be done or not. This happened even to Haatim, a naïve kind of person this book have. I expected Haatim would make some problems (at least a little), but amazingly he did more than great for someone who just stepped into that kind of the world. Frequently, we as the reader got this unspoken assurance that everything are going to be smoothly okay (no worries!). Some people would love it while the others would find it less thrilling.

However, people who love the stories in this kind of genre would not want to miss this one. You never want to miss a neat mix of horror and supernatural with action. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is not easy to find the book’s lack. Beside the spiciness (which maybe some people had found it spicy enough), this book is perfect for me. It’s neatly and cleverly written. I really enjoyed my time reading it and would love to read the sequel. Very good and recommended!
