The Elf Brief by Jordan David is the first book in the Magi Charter Series. One day an elf named Noel has a special meeting with Santa. When Noel and Santa meet, Noel is asked to do a very important job. He is supposed to take notes about the new Santa and report back to Santa Christo his information. This is a big opportunity as it is rare that any elf spends one on one time meeting up with Santa.
While Noel is trying to figure out his new job some trouble arises between some elves from the FCD Department to keep Noel from doing his job. This is because these elves are in charge of finding new elves and performing missions that deal with the outside world. Even though Noel is now working directly under Santa Christo he is not working for the FCD Department which is causing some uproar from the elves that do work for the FCD Department.
Two elves from the FCD Department named Yule and Cinnamon, escort Noel on his first mission outside of the North Pole to meet Samuel in hopes he will become the new Santa. This can be a challenging task as the elves turn into humans when working outside of the factory, so when approaching Samuel to ask him to be their new Santa can be complicated. Once Samuel arrives at the North Pole his decision of becoming the new Santa is not fully completed until the ceremony. Noel must do his best to help Samuel so he will not feel so overwhelmed to change his mind about becoming the new Santa. Can Noel accomplish all of the duties he is assigned to do that does not require any training or much explanation? Can Noel take on the role of helping Santa Samuel?
This is such a cute story. I really liked the main character Noel. The author did a very good job explaining the kind of elf Noel is so that you could understand more about what he did at the factory. It was nice knowing more information on how, why, and when new Santas are chosen. I did not find anything in the story that I did not like. Sometimes in these kinds of series there are the bad guys that you just can't stand. I couldn't even find that to not like.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I highly recommend this for anyone. If Christmas if one of your favorite holidays, then this might be a good read for you. I am really looking forward to reading the other books by this author in the series. I hope he continues on with it. I feel this series has potential to go far.
